Ellesmere Port Local and Family History Society

If you are interested in local and/or family history, come and join this new Society.   We plan to hold monthly meetings throughout the year on Tuesday evenings at The National Waterways Museum (formerly known as The Boat Museum) here in Ellesmere Port – access off Junction 9 of the M53 motorway.

Unless otherwise stated, all meetings to commence at 7:30 p.m. in the Rolt Conference Centre – entrance to the site via gate by canal.

2010 Meetings

16 February
Cath Turpin, another regular researcher in the Archives and a well-known local speaker, will tell us about the family history of boating families.  Much of her research is relevant to all budding family historians whether or not they had a connection with the inland waterways or not, so this is an excellent introductory talk to the subject.

16 March
A talk by Linda Clarke, Local Studies Librarian, on the facilities available locally to family historians and local historians and how these can be accessed.  You will be amazed what can be accessed for free!
The meeting will also include the society’s first AGM with initial reports on the society and the election of officers and committee.

Speakers will be invited to subsequent meetings dependent on people’s interest, however it is intended to have a mix of both family and local history subjects.
The cost of joining the society is £10 per annum or £3 per meeting (full membership given if four consecutive meetings attended).

New members are welcome and for more information, contact Celia Webber ( via Museum)
