All meetings held in the Rolt Centre, National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port at 7.30pm
Friday 17th September
By popular request, Alan Jones will give Part 2 of his talk: My life with Boats, Bolinders and Sinking Assets.
This is the talk we had to postpone due to the icy weather last January.
Friday 15th October
Following their world tour, Chris and Barbara Kay will give a presentation on Waterways Worldwide. Fascinating!
Friday 19th November
Joseph Boughey will celebrate the Centenary of LTC (Tom) Rolt, with a new talk.
'Rolt Centenary: Waterways, Writing and Conservation'
The expert looking at Rolt's life and views from a different aspect.
Friday 17th December
'One engine, two people, 40 lorry loads - a look at grain carrying from Seaforth to Manchester'.
Colin Edmondson will share his experience.
'Finger food' refreshments. Contributions welcome.
Friday 21st January
Local historian Anthony Annakin–Smith will tell us about 'Neston Collieries and the Underground Canals'. Worsley wasn't unique!
Friday 18th February
Annual general meeting followed by presentations on Museum progress.
Friday 18th March
Roger Wickson, a canal enthusiast for many years with varied waterway connections, will recall Working boats and working boat people.
Friday 22nd April (Good Friday)
Pat Crecraft will remind us of the campaigning work of George Smith of Coalville in 'A Special Kind of Traffic'.
Friday 20th May
Prof. Ivor Harris from Birmingham University will speak about the innovative and exciting Hydrogen Boat – Hydrogen, Magnets and Ross Barlow.
On Saturday 21st May we will arrange a Society outing to somewhere interesting – details later
